Steve personally oversees every phase of your build — from the first foundation pour to the last piece of crown molding — with an in-house crew that has been trained to his standard alone. There are no subcontractors managing your project in his absence. What you see on the first site visit is who builds your home.

The Steve Melton Difference

Steve learned his trade from his father Wayne, a master carpenter who believed the finish details were where a home revealed its character. After more than forty years in the field across Charlotte and Union County, Steve still does the trim work himself on every project. That means coffered ceilings, custom stair cases, built-in cabinetry, and finish carpentry that most builders send to a subcontractor are handled by the man whose name is on the sign.

We also run a negative air pressure filtration system throughout the construction process. Your home is enclosed, but the air inside stays clean — something no other builder in the greater Charlotte area markets as a standard practice.

Our Custom Home Building Process

We begin with a detailed scope and budget conversation before a single permit is pulled. From there, we handle all permit applications and inspections, keeping you informed at every milestone. You'll have direct access to Steve — not a project manager, not a scheduler — throughout the entire build. Our typical custom home timeline runs 10 to 14 months depending on scope and site conditions.
