Steve Melton Construction ("SMC," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through the website located at smconstruction.com and any related subdomains or subpages (the "Site"), how we use it, who we share it with, and what choices you have.
By using the Site, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
This Policy applies to information collected through the Site only. Information you provide as part of a signed construction services agreement is governed by the terms of that agreement.

1. Information We Collect
We collect two categories of information: information you provide directly, and information collected automatically when you use the Site.
Information You Provide Directly
When you contact us, request a quote, subscribe to updates, or otherwise interact with a form on the Site, you may provide:
Full name
Email address
Phone number
Mailing address or project address
Project details (type of project, budget range, timeline, property description)
Any additional information you choose to include in a message
You control what you share. You are not required to submit any specific piece of information, though we may not be able to respond fully to your inquiry without it.
Information Collected Automatically
When you visit the Site, our hosting provider and analytics tools may automatically collect:
Device and browser information (browser type, operating system, screen size, language)
IP address and approximate geographic location (city or region level)
Pages viewed, links clicked, time spent on pages, and referring URLs
Date and time of your visit
This information is collected using standard web technologies including cookies, pixel tags, and server log files.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
The Site uses cookies and similar technologies to remember your preferences, understand how visitors use the Site, and improve the Site over time. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking or disabling cookies may cause some parts of the Site to function less effectively.
We may use the following types of cookies:
Strictly necessary cookies for the Site to function
Analytics cookies to understand how visitors use the Site (for example, Google Analytics)
Functional cookies to remember your preferences and improve your experience
The Site is hosted on Webflow, which may set cookies for hosting and analytics purposes as described in the Webflow privacy documentation.

2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
Respond to your inquiries and provide information you request
Prepare estimates, proposals, or scope of work in response to project requests
Communicate with you about ongoing or prospective projects
Send occasional marketing emails, newsletters, or promotional content (only if you opt in)
Understand how visitors use the Site so we can improve it
Detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, or technical issues
Comply with applicable laws and enforce our Terms of Use
We do not use your information for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects on you.

3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
We may share information with the following categories of recipients:
Service providers. We use third-party service providers to operate the Site and our business. These may include website hosting (Webflow), form submission handling, email delivery, analytics (such as Google Analytics), customer relationship management, and cloud storage. These providers only receive information necessary to perform their services and are contractually or legally required to protect it.
Professional advisors. We may share information with our accountants, attorneys, insurers, or similar professionals when needed for our business operations.
Legal and safety. We may disclose information when we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law, subpoena, court order, or other legal process, or when necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of SMC, our clients, our employees, or the public.
Business transfers. If SMC is involved in a merger, acquisition, sale of assets, or bankruptcy, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to the terms of this Policy.

4. Marketing Communications
We may send you marketing emails only after you have opted in (for example, by checking a consent box on a form or subscribing to updates). You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email we send you. Even if you unsubscribe from marketing, we may still send you transactional messages related to a specific inquiry or project.

5. Your Choices and Rights
Regardless of where you live, you can:
Ask us what personal information we hold about you
Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate
Ask us to delete information we no longer need to hold
Opt out of marketing communications
Ask us to stop using cookies or similar technologies on your device (through browser settings or a cookie-preferences tool if one is offered on the Site)
Depending on the state where you live, you may have additional rights under state privacy law (for example, the California Consumer Privacy Act, the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act, the Colorado Privacy Act, the Connecticut Data Privacy Act, the Utah Consumer Privacy Act, or similar laws in other states). Where those rights apply, they may include the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to access or receive a copy of that information, the right to correct or delete it, and the right to opt out of certain sharing or targeted advertising practices.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at operations@stevemeltonconstruction.com or by mail at the address listed at the end of this Policy. We will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law. We may need to verify your identity before acting on your request.

6. Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information we collect from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, and disclosure. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of any information you transmit to or from the Site.
You are responsible for keeping any account credentials, project portal logins, or similar access information confidential.

7. Data Retention
We keep the information we collect only as long as needed for the purposes described in this Policy, or as required by law, contract, or legitimate business need. When the information is no longer needed, we either delete it or de-identify it.
Retention periods vary based on the type of information and the reason we collected it. For example, information related to an active or completed project may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to support the project and any related warranty, legal, or tax obligations. Marketing inquiries that do not result in a project are typically retained for a shorter period.

8. Children's Privacy
The Site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it as promptly as reasonably possible. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at operations@stevemeltonconstruction.com.

9. Third-Party Links and Services
The Site may contain links to third-party websites or embedded content (for example, YouTube videos, Google Maps, social media feeds). This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third-party sites or services. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party site or service you visit or use.

10. Users Outside the United States
The Site is intended for visitors located in the United States. If you access the Site from outside the United States, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States. By using the Site, you consent to this transfer, storage, and processing.

11. "Do Not Track" Signals
Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" setting that sends a signal to websites requesting that they not track your online activities. At this time there is no industry-standard response to Do Not Track signals, and the Site does not respond differently based on the presence of a Do Not Track signal. You can still use the choices described in Section 5 to control how your information is used.

12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be communicated by posting a notice on the Site or by other reasonable means. Your continued use of the Site after any change takes effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated Policy.
